Dr. Gavin Webb, orthopedic director for the Sports Medicine Center at Seacoast Orthopedics & Sports Medicine (SOSMed), recently received his Subspecialty Certificate in Sports Medicine from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Webb is the second orthopedic surgeon at SOSMed to obtain this designation, which involves an in-depth practice review and a national exam. Surgeons with a subspecialty certificate must also be board-certified in orthopedic surgery and complete an accredited one-year sports medicine surgery fellowship.
Dr. Webb completed his sports medicine fellowship in Boston at New England Baptist Hospital. During his time there, he worked as an assistant team physician for the Boston Celtics and the Northeastern Huskies. Prior to that, he completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the State University of New York, Buffalo, where he received awards for research, commitment to orthopedic education, and overall performance.
Currently a team physician for the UNH Wildcats, Dr. Webb has been recognized as a leading sports medicine physician by his peers. He is a reviewer for The Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery, a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and serves as a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. Dr. Webb has a special interest in cartilage restoration procedures and is the regional leader in cartilage implantation surgery.
